S. Michelle Blendell

S. Michelle Blendell is an associate at Victory Square Law Office. She practices workplace law with an emphasis on labour relations, human rights, employment law, and privacy matters.
Michelle first joined the firm in 1998 as an articling student and in 2002 left the firm to join another union-side labour law firm where she practiced law for more than 17 years. In 2019, she moved to a full-service municipal law firm. Michelle was happy to return to VSLO in 2026.
Michelle is dedicated to putting her knowledge of labour law to work for her clients. Her practice focuses on providing legal advice and written advocacy. Her skill in researching and analyzing legal issues, seeing issues from all sides, and in distilling the applicable legal principles into practical and strategic legal advice, have assisted clients to successfully resolve grievances, and other complaints, often without the need for litigation.
Michelle’s legal analysis and written arguments have been relied upon in cases before the BC Supreme Court, the BC Court of Appeal, the Labour Relations Board, Labour Arbitrators, and the Human Rights Tribunal.
Michelle obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Great Distinction from McGill University, with a focus on labour-management relations. She completed her law degree at the University of British Columbia.
Michelle is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, with memberships with the Labour Law, Human Rights Law, Employment Law, and Privacy Law subsections. She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
Outside of work, Michelle loves to spend time with her family and enjoys gardening.
