SEBASTIEN ANDERSON*

Sebastien joined Victory Square Law Office LLP as an Associate in 2002, and as Partner in January 2007.

Called to the Bar in both British Columbia and Alberta, Sebastien's inter-provincial practice includes labour law, employment law, human rights law, administrative law and constitutional law. Since 1986, Sebastien has represented workers and their trade unions in arbitration, labour relations board and human rights proceedings in both federal and provincial jurisdictions and within the private, public and construction sectors. He provides strategic collective bargaining advice in both the private and public sectors and has made presentations a keynote speaker at collective bargaining conferences.

Sebastien has an active inter-provincial civil litigation practice, with a major focus in labour law, employment law and administrative law. In his employment law practice, he represents exclusively non-unionized employees (workers, professionals, and managerial employees) in claims involving unlawful discrimination, harassment, and wrongful dismissal. He also maintains an administrative law practice in both Alberta and British Columbia. He has successfully represented employees before Workers' Compensation Board, the Human Rights tribunal, Employment Standards tribunals, Canada Pension Appeals Tribunal, and Employment Insurance Commission and before other administrative tribunals. Sebastien has a successful track record representing disabled employees whose long-term disability benefits have been terminated by an insurance company.

Sebastien was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He has long-established ties to labour movement in Alberta, where he worked for a trade union and was a member of the United Steelworkers, Local 9302. Sebastien is a graduate of the Canadian Labour Congress' Labour College of Canada residential program (Class of 1983). Before attending law school, he studied Industrial Relations at Athabasca University. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Alberta.
